Overview
Some nails need flexibility. Some need a little extra support. And some services call for greater strength, rigidity and structure. That's where The Builder by Tayla-Made Nail Co comes in.
The Builder is our professional clear structural builder gel, designed for nail techs who need greater strength and rigidity for structured overlays, nail architecture and extension services.
With an 85D hardness, The Builder creates a firm and durable enhancement designed to provide long-lasting structural support.
Its controlled viscosity provides the body required for building while still offering excellent flow and self-levelling properties, helping you create controlled structure without unnecessarily fighting the product.
When The Foundation isn't enough structure for the service you're performing, reach for The Builder.
Key Features
- 85D hardness — greater rigidity and structural strength for more substantial enhancement services.
- Structured overlays — build apex, reinforce stress areas and create balanced nail architecture.
- Extensions — designed for services requiring additional structural support or length.
- Controlled viscosity — 15,000–18,000 cPs balances body, control and workable flow.
- Self-levelling — superior self-levelling helps smooth the surface and reduce unnecessary refinement.
- 10-second shaping cure — initial structure cure allows C-curve refinement before the complete 60-second cure.
Where The Builder Fits in the Tayla-Made System
The Tayla-Made system gives the nail tech different levels of support rather than taking a one-product-fits-all approach.
The Base — Traditional Gel Base Coat
Thinner • Lighter • Simple gel polish services. The Base is designed for traditional gel polish manicures where additional structure isn't required.
The Foundation — Flexible, Soak-Off Structure
Thicker • Supportive • Multi-functional • 6 in 1. The Foundation provides additional body and support while retaining flexibility. It's ideal for natural nail overlays, surface levelling, Rubber Base applications and short extensions where flexibility remains beneficial.
The Builder — Structural Builder Gel
Greater rigidity • Greater structural strength • Designed for more substantial enhancement services. With 85D hardness, The Builder steps up the level of structural support for services requiring greater rigidity and strength than The Foundation provides.
The question isn't: Which product is strongest? The better question is: What level of structure does this particular nail and service require?
Choose the product according to the natural nail, the desired length and the structure you're creating.
85D Hardness — Built for Greater Rigidity
The Builder has a hardness rating of 85D. This greater hardness creates a firmer, more rigid enhancement than a flexible Rubber Base-style product.
That makes The Builder particularly useful when additional structural integrity is required. Greater rigidity allows the enhancement to maintain its architecture under everyday wear and helps provide the support required for extension services.
This is an important distinction between The Foundation and The Builder. The Foundation is designed around flexible support and versatility. The Builder is designed around greater structural strength and rigidity.
Neither replaces the other. They perform different jobs.
Built for Structure
Good enhancement structure isn't simply about applying more product. It's about placing product where the nail needs support.
The Builder allows the nail tech to create and refine the architecture of the enhancement, including:
- Apex placement
- Stress-area reinforcement
- Sidewall structure
- Overall balance
- Surface shape
- Extension length
- Enhancement strength
Its increased rigidity makes it particularly suited to services where maintaining the correct architecture is important.
Build with intention — not simply thickness.
Controlled Viscosity
A structural builder needs enough body to build — but it still needs to be workable.
The Builder has a controlled viscosity that provides a balance between structure, control and flow. This allows the nail tech to manipulate the product and create structure while its self-levelling properties help smooth the surface.
The result is a builder that provides the body required for architecture while still assisting the nail tech during application.
Control where you need it. Self-levelling where you want it.
Self-Levelling Application
The Builder has been formulated with strong self-levelling properties.
Once placed, the gel can begin settling and smoothing across the nail surface, helping reduce unnecessary filing after curing.
This doesn't remove the need for correct application or architecture. Instead, it allows the product to work with the nail tech.
Use your brush to guide the product into position, allow it time to self-level, check the structure from multiple angles and cure once you're satisfied with the result.
The cleaner your application, the less refinement you should need afterwards.
Structured Natural Nail Overlays
The Builder can be used over the natural nail when greater structural support is required.
After correctly preparing the natural nail and applying the Tayla-Made preparation system, The Builder can be used to create a structured overlay and apex.
Rather than simply coating the nail in one uniform thickness, product should be distributed according to the architecture required. This allows you to reinforce areas of greater stress while maintaining a balanced, professional-looking enhancement.
Nail Extensions
The Builder is designed for nail extension services as well as structured overlays.
Using an appropriate nail form, the product can be used to extend beyond the natural free edge and create the desired enhancement shape.
This is where The Builder becomes particularly important within the Tayla-Made system. While The Foundation can be used for short extensions, The Builder provides greater hardness and rigidity for services requiring additional structural support or length.
Build the extension. Create the structure. Refine the architecture. Then finish with your chosen Tayla-Made colour and top coat.
The 10-Second Structure Cure
The Builder formula has a particularly useful professional feature when creating extensions.
The product can be given an initial 10-second cure, allowing the enhancement to hold its shape sufficiently for C-curve refinement.
At this stage, the nail can be carefully pinched to achieve the desired C-curve before returning it to the lamp to complete the full cure.
The formula is designed to provide zero spring-back following this initial shaping cure, giving experienced nail techs additional control over the final architecture of the extension.
Important: The initial 10-second cure is a shaping stage only. The Builder must then be returned to the lamp to receive its complete 60-second cure.
Clear by Design
The Tayla-Made Builder is available in Clear.
A clear builder provides a versatile structural foundation that can sit beneath virtually any colour or nail art design.
It is also particularly useful where the nail tech wants to clearly see the natural nail and underlying structure during application and maintenance.
Once your structure is complete, simply continue with your chosen Tayla-Made colour system.
HEMA Free & TPO Free
The Builder uses a HEMA-Free and TPO-Free formula.
This brings The Builder into line with the formulation direction of the Tayla-Made range while still delivering the structural performance required from a professional builder gel.
As with all professional gel products, correct application remains essential. Avoid contact with the skin and surrounding tissue and ensure the product receives its complete required cure.
Preserve the Natural Nail
The philosophy behind The Builder remains consistent with the rest of the Tayla-Made system: preserve the natural nail wherever possible.
Correct preparation doesn't mean unnecessarily filing away healthy natural nail. Once true cuticle and surface contaminants have been removed, The Dehydrator and The Bonder prepare the natural nail for the gel system.
The Builder then provides the structure. Use product to create the architecture you need rather than unnecessarily thinning the natural nail underneath it.
Remove what needs to be removed. Preserve what doesn't.
How to Use — Structured Overlay
- Prepare — Complete your normal natural nail preparation, including removal of true cuticle and non-living tissue from the nail plate.
- Dehydrate — Apply The Dehydrator to the exposed natural nail. Allow it to air dry completely. The natural nail should appear chalky and dry.
- Bond — Apply a thin layer of The Bonder to the natural nail plate. Allow it to air set for a few seconds until tacky. Do not wipe.
- Apply The Builder — Using the Tayla-Made curved/rounded precision brush, apply The Builder and create the required structure. Build and position the apex according to the length, shape and needs of the nail. Allow the product to self-level while maintaining control of the structure. Check the nail from the side and front before curing to ensure the architecture is balanced.
- Cure — Cure for 60 seconds under a compatible UV/LED nail lamp.
- Refine — If required, refine the surface, sidewalls, free edge and overall shape. Remove filing dust thoroughly before continuing.
- Finish — Continue with your chosen Tayla-Made colour and top coat.
How to Use — Extensions
- Prepare & Bond — Prepare the natural nail and apply The Dehydrator followed by The Bonder.
- Fit Your Form — Fit an appropriate nail form correctly beneath the natural free edge.
- Create the Extension — Apply The Builder to create the extension and initial shape.
- Optional 10-Second Shaping Cure — For nail techs wishing to refine the C-curve, The Builder may be initially cured for 10 seconds before carefully pinching the enhancement into the desired C-curve.
- Complete the Cure — Return the nail to the UV/LED lamp and complete the full 60-second cure.
- Remove Form & Rebalance — Remove the nail form. Build or rebalance the remaining structure as required, curing each application completely.
- Refine & Finish — Refine the finished enhancement before continuing with your chosen Tayla-Made colour and top coat.
Maintenance & Infills
The Builder does not need to be completely removed at every service when the existing enhancement remains sound.
During an infill or rebalance, remove any lifting or compromised product and reduce or reshape the existing enhancement as required.
Prepare the exposed natural nail regrowth. Apply The Dehydrator followed by The Bonder to the exposed natural nail, then apply fresh Builder to rebalance the structure and restore the apex.
Maintaining sound existing product rather than unnecessarily removing the entire enhancement can also reduce repeated filing of the natural nail. This supports the Tayla-Made philosophy of preserving the natural nail wherever possible.

Professional Tips
Structure First. Filing Second.
Don't rely on your file to create architecture that could have been created during application. Use The Builder's viscosity and self-levelling properties to place the bulk of your structure correctly before curing.
Check: Apex • Sidewalls • Free Edge • C-Curve • Overall Balance. Then cure.
Your file should refine your work — not have to completely rebuild it.
Look at the Nail From Every Angle
A nail can look perfectly smooth from above while the structure is incorrect from the side. Before curing The Builder, check the nail from above, from the side, down the barrel and from the free edge. This allows you to identify uneven product distribution before the gel is permanently cured.
Good structure is three-dimensional.

Removal
The Builder is technically a soak-off gel. Because structural enhancements are applied with substantially more product than a standard gel coating, soaking through the full thickness can take considerable time.
For more efficient removal, carefully file down the bulk of The Builder first, leaving a thin layer before beginning the soak-off process. Take care near the natural nail — the aim is to reduce the enhancement, not file into the natural nail plate.
For maintenance appointments, complete removal may not be necessary. If the existing enhancement remains sound, it can be reduced, rebalanced and infilled as required.
File down the bulk. Preserve the natural nail.
