The Foundation — 6 in 1

System step · the foundation

Overview

If there's one product in the Tayla-Made range that deserves a permanent place on every nail desk, The Foundation is it.

The Foundation by Tayla-Made Nail Co is our ultimate multi-tasking gel — a versatile 6 in 1 professional formula designed to perform multiple roles without compromising on application, strength or control.

Its deliberately thicker viscosity provides the control and structure needed for building and strengthening, yet its exceptional self-levelling properties allow the gel to settle beautifully across the nail surface.

Thick enough to build. Self-levelling enough to smooth. Flexible enough to move with the natural nail. Strong enough to provide structure.

And when it's time for maintenance, The Foundation files easily, making refinement and infill preparation straightforward.

From smoothing a natural nail to creating structure, building a short extension, adhering a full-cover nail tip or transferring nail foil — The Foundation adapts to the service you're performing.

This isn't simply another gel in the Tayla-Made system. This is the product we expect nail techs to reach for again and again.

Six Functions. One Foundation.

1. Nail Surface Leveller

Smooth the Nail — Don't File It Away

Natural nails aren't perfectly flat. Ridges, dips and uneven areas are completely normal, and they don't need to be aggressively filed away simply to create a smooth surface for colour. The Foundation's thicker, self-levelling formula allows you to fill and smooth uneven areas with product rather than unnecessarily removing natural nail.

Applied over the prepared natural nail, The Foundation settles across the surface to help create a beautifully smooth foundation ready for colour.

2. Rubber Base

Flexibility Where the Natural Nail Needs It

Natural nails move. For clients with softer or more flexible natural nails, an overly rigid product may not always move in harmony with the nail underneath it. The Foundation can be used as a Rubber Base, providing a thicker, supportive layer with flexibility that allows it to move with the natural nail. Its self-levelling consistency also helps smooth ridges and imperfections while creating a supportive foundation underneath your colour.

3. Brush-On Builder Gel

Build Strength & Structure Straight From the Bottle

The Foundation can be used as a Brush-On Builder Gel for natural nail overlays. Its thicker viscosity provides the control required to build product where you need it, allowing you to create additional structure and support. The consistency allows you to create and refine an apex while still self-levelling exceptionally well. No pot. No separate gel brush. Apply directly from the bottle using the Tayla-Made curved/rounded precision brush.

4. Short Extension Gel

A Little Extra Length — Using the Same Bottle

Its viscosity and structural properties allow The Foundation to create short nail extensions, a small amount of additional length or a nail repair. Build, shape, cure and refine. For services requiring greater length, rigidity or more substantial structural support, The Builder may be the more appropriate choice.

5. Nail Tip Adhesive

Take Your Time. Position. Then Cure.

The Foundation can be used as a UV/LED curable nail tip adhesive for compatible full-cover nail tip systems. Unlike air-drying nail glue, it remains workable until cured, giving you time to position the tip, check alignment, adjust placement and ensure appropriate product coverage. Once correctly positioned, cure according to your full-cover tip application method, ensuring The Foundation receives its complete 60-second cure.

6. Foil Adhesive

Yes — It Does That Too.

Apply a thin layer where your foil design is required and cure for 60 seconds. The cured Foundation leaves a tacky surface that can then be used to transfer compatible nail foil. No separate foil gel required.

Why the Viscosity Matters

Thick — But Exceptionally Self-Levelling

The Foundation has a deliberately thicker viscosity than The Base, giving you the control needed to build, level and create structure without the product running away from you. The additional body provides greater control when building structure, creating an apex, smoothing deeper ridges and uneven areas, creating short extensions, adhering full-cover tips and providing additional support to the natural nail.

But thick doesn't have to mean difficult to work with. Despite its thicker consistency, The Foundation self-levels exceptionally well, smoothing beautifully across the nail while remaining workable and controlled. This balance between viscosity, control and self-levelling is what makes The Foundation so versatile.

Soak-Off Strength & Flexibility

Structure Without Moving Into a Hard Gel

The Foundation provides additional strength and structure while remaining a soak-off gel system. This makes it an ideal middle ground between a traditional gel base coat and a more rigid structural builder gel. It provides more body, support and building capability than The Base, while retaining the flexibility and soak-off removal many nail techs prefer for natural nail services.

For clients or services requiring greater rigidity, strength or more substantial enhancement work, The Builder may be the more appropriate choice.

The Base The Foundation The Builder
Traditional Gel Base Coat Flexible, Soak-Off Structure Structural Builder Gel
Thinner • Lighter • Simple gel polish services Thicker • Supportive • Multi-functional • 6 in 1 Greater rigidity • Greater structural strength • More substantial enhancement services
The goal isn't to use the strongest product available on every client. It's to choose the right level of strength, flexibility and structure for the nail and the service you're performing.

The Foundation vs The Base

Which One Should You Choose?

Both products can sit underneath your gel colour — but they offer different things.

The Base The Foundation
Think: Traditional Gel Polish Manicure Think: Strength + Structure + Flexibility + Versatility
Dedicated traditional gel base coat • Thinner consistency • Lighter application • Simple foundation underneath gel colour • Minor ridge smoothing • No additional structure or building capabilities Thicker foundation underneath colour • Greater smoothing and levelling • Additional support • Rubber Base • Structured overlay • Apex building • Short extension • Nail tip adhesive • Foil adhesive

For many Tayla-Made nail techs, The Foundation will become their everyday go-to product. For others, the simplicity and thinner application of The Base may be exactly what they prefer. And many nail techs will keep both on their desk — choosing between them according to the client and the service being performed.

Preserve the Natural Nail

Let the Foundation Do the Building — Not Your File Do the Removing

One of the reasons we believe so strongly in The Foundation is its ability to help us work with the natural nail rather than unnecessarily removing it. A ridge doesn't need to be filed away just because it exists. A slightly uneven nail doesn't need to be thinned until it's perfectly flat. A flexible natural nail doesn't necessarily need a rigid product simply because it needs support.

The Foundation allows the nail tech to use product to create smoothness, strength and structure.

Remove what needs to be removed. Preserve what doesn't. Prepare the natural nail correctly, then allow your product to do its job.

HEMA Free & TPO Free

The Foundation is formulated HEMA Free and TPO Free, consistent with the Tayla-Made Nail Co gel system.

As with all professional UV/LED gel products, correct application remains essential. Avoid contact with the skin and surrounding tissue and ensure the product receives its complete required cure. HEMA Free and TPO Free doesn't replace responsible gel application.

How to Use — Natural Nail Overlay

  1. Prepare — Complete your normal natural nail preparation, including removal of true cuticle and non-living tissue.
  2. Dehydrate — Apply The Dehydrator to the natural nail plate and allow it to air dry completely. The nail should appear chalky and dry.
  3. Bond — Apply a thin layer of The Bonder to the natural nail plate. Allow it to air set for a few seconds until tacky. Do not wipe.
  4. Apply The Foundation — Using the curved/rounded precision brush, apply The Foundation according to the structure required for the service. For a simple levelling application, allow the self-levelling formula to smooth across the nail. For a structured overlay, use the thicker viscosity to create the required architecture and apex.
  5. Cure — Cure for 60 seconds under a compatible UV/LED nail lamp.
  6. Refine If Required — If necessary, refine the shape and structure. The Foundation files easily, allowing for straightforward refinement.
  7. Continue With Colour — Continue with your chosen Tayla-Made colour and finishing system.

Other Applications

Short Extensions

Prepare the natural nail, apply The Dehydrator and then The Bonder as usual. Use an appropriate nail form and apply The Foundation to create the required short extension and structure. Cure for 60 seconds under a compatible UV/LED nail lamp. Remove the form and refine the extension as required before continuing with colour and finishing products.

Nail Tip Adhesive

Prepare the natural nail and compatible full-cover nail tip according to your chosen tip system. Apply The Dehydrator followed by The Bonder to the exposed natural nail. Apply an appropriate amount of The Foundation to the contact area of the tip. Position carefully, ensuring correct alignment and complete, even product contact beneath the tip while avoiding the surrounding skin. Cure according to your compatible full-cover tip application method, ensuring The Foundation receives its required 60-second UV/LED cure.

Foil Adhesive

Apply a thin layer of The Foundation to the area where foil transfer is required and cure for 60 seconds. The Foundation will retain a tacky layer after curing. Press your compatible nail foil onto the tacky surface to transfer the design, then continue with your chosen nail art and finishing products.

Maintenance & Infills

The Foundation can be refined and maintained during subsequent nail services. Reduce and reshape existing sound product as required. When performing an infill, concentrate your natural nail preparation products on the exposed natural nail regrowth. Prepare the regrowth, apply The Dehydrator followed by The Bonder, then apply fresh Foundation to rebalance the nail and restore the required structure. Existing sound product can remain in place rather than unnecessarily removing the entire enhancement.

Professional Tips

Flip It.

When using The Foundation for a structured overlay, allow the product's exceptional self-levelling properties to work for you. After placing your product, briefly turn the client's finger upside down to allow gravity to help draw the gel toward the centre of the nail. Turn the hand back over, check your structure and apex, make any final adjustments required and cure.

Let the product do as much of the work as possible.

One Bottle Doesn't Mean One Application

The real advantage of The Foundation isn't simply that it performs six functions. It's that you can adapt how you use it according to the nail in front of you. A client requiring only surface levelling doesn't need the same amount of product as a client requiring a structured overlay. A flexible natural nail may benefit from its Rubber Base properties. A broken corner may need a short extension. A full-cover tip service requires it as an adhesive.

Same bottle. Different technique. Different result.
